Grid Appliance 2.04.11
Release 2.04 upgrades the system to Ubuntu 9.10 with both 64-bit and 32-bit environments. In addition, all components of the VM are now available in an apt repository for users to configure their own "Grid Appliance" external a VM. The switch to Ubuntu 9.10, which uses upstart for system initialization, complicates the use of COW without rebuilding the initrd as has been done in previous systems. Thus previous home and opt vmdks are now deprecated. Also extra vmx files for various memory and network environments have been removed, configuring the GridAppliance.vmx either through the VMware interface or text files is possible. Most of the system has been rebuilt to be more reliable in addition a new version of GroupVPN significantly improves connectivity. Qemu seems to have issues reading VMDK files and it is recommended that users of qemu convert ga.vmdk into a ga.cow2.

Grid Appliance 2.03.00 (Deprecated, passively supported, will be removed by 05/01/10)
Release 2.03.00 now uses GroupVPN and GroupAppliances to provide a truly unique adhoc grid experience. As usual, the VMDK files work just fine with KVM and VirtualBox. Supports 64-bit kernel, which allows usage of more than 4 GB of memory, you must use a x64 floppy to do this.
