A. Learning Styles
From SCOOP Wiki
To enhance this tutorial we have incorporated the basic learning styles. As you will see in the pages ahead, there are videos, pictures, text, and hands-on work to assist you.
- If you tend to be a visual and auditory learner, click on our videos.
- If you are mainly visual, read through the text.
- If you like hands-on work, make sure to visit the sites we talk about yourself.
There is something for everyone! Most people are a combination of the three, so even if you are mostly one type of learner, doing all the things we have to offer will help to teach and reinforce ideas.
Auditory: Auditory learners focus best on speech or content that they can listen to. They excel with lectures and will even pick up on tone and speed. Text may not be useful to them unless there is dialogue to go along with it.
Visual: Visual learners focus on images, maps, and graphs. They comprehend text, but work better when the material is associated with visual stimulation.
Hands-on: Tactile learners excel with a hands-on approach. Activities that involve exploration and visual results help to simulate and keep their attention.
A1. David hates school, and will skip class whenever he can get away with it. He hates the stuffy atmosphere of a classroom and has trouble concentrating. On the weekends he works with his dad who is a mechanic. He loves that job and would rather work on cars than get lectured. What kind of learner is David?
If, by chance, you are unsure about what type of learner you are then go to the following sites. In these sites, there are summaries and journals that describe them.
