C. File Naming Conventions

From SCOOP Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Because the SCOOP catalog has so many files of different type and origin, there is a consistent naming convention implemented. The conventions that were chosen are interpretable by both machines and humans.

Each file name includes:

  • Basic categorizations of data; 1.Data, 2.Atmospheric forcing (e.g. wind) models, 3.Wave/Surge models
  • Data instrument source or model name
  • Source institutions or systems
  • Times (e.g. initial time and forecast period)
  • Miscellaneous information (as needed)

Follow these steps to learn how you would name a file if you were to add it into the SCOOP database.
