Steps to upgrade to the new IOOS appliance

  1. download the new appliance from: http://www.grid-appliance.org/files/appliances/ga2.zip
  2. unzip it
  3. download the file opt.vmdk: http://www.grid-appliance.org/files/ioos/opt.vmdk
  4. replace opt.vmdk inside the extracted grid_appliance directory with the one you got from step 3)
  5. assuming you have created an account as explained in a previous email
    1. log in to http://www.grid-appliance.org
    2. go to group appliances, then IOOS1
    3. click on the download button at the bottom right.
  6. You will download a file named floppy.zip.
    1. Unzip this file to get floppy.img
    2. replace the file fdb.img within your grid_appliance directory with the floppy.img file you just extracted
  7. Start the new grid appliance

If this is successful, you should get a DHCP virtual IP address and get read-only access to the /home/data partition. Run /sbin/ifconfig tapipop and send an email to renato@acis.ufl.edu with your virtual IP address. I'll give instructions on the wiki on how to set up a static IP address for everyone's appliances.
